From Adoption Counselor to Aspiring Vet Tech

I have been a cat lover since I was very young. My first pet was a cat my family adopted when I was around 5 years old. Since then I developed a special love of cats. I’ve worked with the Humane Society as an Adoption Counselor and then as a Humane Law Enforcement Officer, and my love and knowledge of cats has continued to grow from there. I worked as an animal trainer (dogs & cats) for 2 years and also as a Clinic Assistant at Feral Cat Coalition for a year. I loved my time there, and learned so much from this amazing group and their critical mission. I left FCC to work full-time as a veterinary assistant at an urgent care. I’m also taking a vet assistant course hoping to continue on to complete the veterinary technician program.

Paying Forward Excellent Cat Care

I began fostering a kitty named Coral from East County Animal Rescue (ECAR) after my torbie Mia passed away in May 2023 from gastrointestinal lymphoma. Coral is a very special girl. She came into ECAR after being found in the streets of El Centro with her three kittens. Coral had also suffered a hairline fracture to her lower spine. She required cage rest for months, and manual bladder expression several times a day. She was very fortunate to have a dedicated group of people at ECAR to help her through this difficult time. When she came to my home as a foster, my partner and I fell in love with Coral and decided to adopt her. She has been a wonderful addition to our family.

When my partner and I go on vacation, Stephanie takes such wonderful care of Coral and we absolutely adore her. Knowing Coral is in such capable hands puts us at total ease when we are traveling. I’m excited to now be a part of Team Tabby too so that I can give back and do the same for others. I feel that living and caring for my own cats, varied work experiences, knowledge of animal behavior, patience, compassion, and the desire to always learn more will help me to provide the best care. I am looking forward to meeting you and your kitties and building long lasting bonds with new feline friends!
