Cat Sitter

We're Looking for Cat Lovers Who:

  • Love working with cats! If you prefer dogs, Rover.com would be a better fit for you.

  • Will give 100% of your attention to the cats for the entirety of every visit. Customers can select 30, 60 or 90 minute visit durations based on their preferences.

  • Are 18+ years old. This is for the trust and safety of our customers.

  • Will pass a background check. This is for the trust and safety of our clients and their kitties.

  • Have a driver's license and reliable transportation. This job requires you to visit kitties in their homes, so local travel is required.

  • Live within Central San Diego. Our services are available in most neighborhoods from Mira Mesa & Torrey Hills to the Border. You can view all zip codes in our service area here

  • Have basic 'tech savvy' skills in order to share visit reports and photos with clients via an app.

  • Understand cat body language and behaviors

  • Will follow client's cat care directions to a 'T'

  • Will act professionally and respect the clients and their homes. This means showing up on time, every time and always being communicative with the clients. It also means treating their homes with respect (remove your shoes, keep things clean and tidy, pick up after yourself).

  • Has previous pet sitting, veterinary, rescue, or volunteer experience working specifically with cats.

Schedule:

As an independent contractor, you are able to set your own schedule. This is a perfect gig job for those with other full-time or part-time jobs, or for those who simply want flexibility in their work day. Our busiest times are holidays and weekends; that is when we really need the most help, especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Sitters keep 100% of the holiday surcharge.

Desired Skills:

1. Medical: As a premium service, we get a lot of kitty customers with special needs. We are looking for individuals with a veterinary background who are comfortable caring for cats with medical needs. We will give preference to sitters with any of the following skills and expertise:

  • Administering oral medication - pills/tablets/capsules

  • Administering oral medication - liquids

  • Administering eye medication - drops/ointment

  • Administering ear medication

  • Administering transdermal medications

  • Applying topical medication

  • Subcutaneous fluid administration

  • AeroKat / Flovent inhaler administration

  • Diabetic care - AlphaTrak/Libre Freestyle sensor blood glucose home testing

  • Diabetic care - administering insulin injections

  • Administering other injectable medications (such as B12)

  • FIP Warrior experience - administering injections/pills

  • Bladder expressions

  • Esophagostomy tube care & feeding

A skills test will be required to verify competency for any skill an applicant claims to have.

2. Basic Grooming Care: Sometimes our clients will ask us to perform basic grooming care during a cat sitting visit, or even have us come by solely for basic grooming needs (such as a nail trim). This is not expected of our sitters, but we do encourage those individuals with any of the following skills to apply:

  • Nail trimming

  • Nail cap application

  • Ear cleaning

  • Bathing, towel dry

  • Bathing, blow dry & brush out

  • Shaving mats

3. Photography skills are always a plus! Our clients LOVE getting beautiful pictures of their purrbabies during their vacations.

Compensation:

Sitters keep between 70 to 80% of earnings based on how many total services they have completed. Tabby Manor keeps a 20 to 30% commission which helps to cover administrative and overhead costs. You can find all of our prices listed at tabbymanor.com/cat-sitting. Sitters keep 100% of the holiday surcharge fees and 100% of tips.
